Prof. Mukesh Srivastava, a renowned educationist and researcher having more than three decades of experience has been given the responsibility by President of India as first Registrar of Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi to initiate academic programmes in the newly established University of National importance. Born on January 08, 1965 in Lucknow, Prof. Srivastava has an excellent academic record to his credit. He obtained M. Sc. Agriculture (1988) and Ph. D. in Plant Pathology (1992) from Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur. Dr. Srivastava has been recognized for his professional achievements by several awards and fellowships. He has been awarded with Fellow of the Society of Plant Protection Scientists and Indian Phytopathological Society. He was involved in teaching, research and extension education and also assigned various responsibilities including Security Officer, Liaison Officer, Additional Chief Personnel Officer and Associate Dean Students Welfare. During teaching (25 years) 5 students were awarded Doctorate degree and 18 students were awarded postgraduate degree under supervision. Successfully run 4 ICAR ad-hoc educational projects and developed 10 teaching modules on Mycology, Phytobacteriology, Plant Disease Diagnosis, Phytonematology, Beginning of New Life, Sugarcane Diseases, Diseases of Sugarbeet, Culture Media, Physical and chemical activities of food utilization in human and Human Nutrition and established country’s first Education Technology lab in year 2000 at CSAUA&T, Kanpur. He has created Trichoderma Library for the first time and placed on University website and First-time developed Trichoderma Production Technology (Th. Azad) video and uploaded on YouTube for farmers to learn the technology for the preparation of bio-formulation. Sequences of universal primers ITS (19) and tef (18) of eighteen Trichoderma species deposited at National (ITCC, MTCC & NBAIM cultures bank) and International (NCBI, EMBL and DDBJ GenBank) repositories. He has Filed three patents for Pure Trichoderma spores alone (Patent File No. 201611014929) and along with chitin (Patent File No. 201611014928) @ 0.1g/10ml found to be most effective in maintaining spore viability thereby increasing the shelf life. Developed the cheapest medium for quantitative isolation of Fusarium by using Malachite green and yeast extract (Patent File No. 201611014930).

Dr. Srivastava has visited countries like ZAU, P.R.China (November 02-07, 1997) for presenting research paper orally in the III Hangzhou International Symposium on Plant Pathology & Biotechnology; Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. (27 March-16 April 2008) for 21 days training programme on “Building Capacity for Student Centered Learning; Bali, Indonesia (March 5-9, 2018) for oral presentation on Advanced Agribusiness Management Course for Executives and Managers and Nepal (14-18 November, 2018) as Team member for preparing DPR of establishing Deemed University in Nepal.

He has published more than 135 research papers in journals of International and national repute in addition to 14 books/ manuals, 8 book chapters and 20 articles in reputed magazines. Also presented 5 research papers at International and 67 at National level Seminar/ Symposia. He has successfully completed 13 Research Projects funded by the ICAR, NHM, SHM, DST, CST etc. in addition to two Niche Area of Excellence projects costing more than 5 Crores. Member, ICAR Accreditation Committee constituted for Accreditation of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur. Dr. Srivastava acted as member, QRT constituted by the ICAR for the AICRP Centre on Litchi and member of the Academic Council in Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior (M.P.) and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay University of Gorakhpur (U.P.).

As REGISTRAR in Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi initiated proper teaching at the campus. Conducted practical classes regularly, resulted in 60 per cent students qualified in JRF for higher studies. Successfully maintained discipline among students and teachers. No single disturbance could take place during the period. Maintained peace at the University. Admitted students in all streams selected through national level examination conducted by the ICAR. Declared results timely in every semester (within a week time). Actively organized and participated in all social activities and celebrated National days and events. Promoted students for their active participation in AgriUnifest and AgriUnisports every year. Initiated Railway concession for students on Study tours and semester breaks. Initiated NSS Activities with the financial support from the State Government and ensured regular programme as part of the curriculum. Also initiated of NCC activities at the Campus. Started students’ feed-back mechanism in the University and organized first Convocation of the University successfully.
