Mobile SMS advisory services have become an essential mechanism for timely delivery of farm advisory services to large number of farmers on real time basis covering large geographical area at relatively lower cost. Such services are emerging as important means of accessing farm advisory services, especially in areas like Bundelkhand where the cell penetration is substantial and access to conventional extension services is poor. To harness this potential, RLBCAU has initiated mobile SMS based advisory services. Advisories provided by university include varietal selection, scheduling of weather forecasts, curative measures of crop and livestock pests and diseases and farmer oriented governmentschemes.
These advisories are enabling farmers to make information based scientific decision preventing crop losses and improving resource use efficiency.
