Dr. Sushil Kumar Chaturvedi joined RLBCAU on 14th July 2017 as Dean, College of Agriculture. Prior to present assignment, he served as Assistant Director General (Oilseeds & Pulses) Acting at ICAR, New Delhi. Also served as Head, Division of Crop Improvement at ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur for about 8 years. Dr. Chaturvedi joined ICAR as Scientist on 7th August 1989 and later served at various scientific positions.

He has handled more than a dozen and half R&D projects worth Rs. 25739.17 lakh. Out of these DAC&FW, GoI funded project on “Creation of Seed-Hubs for Quality Seed Production of Pulses”- As Nodal Officer (Rs. 22531 lakh) and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Project “Tropical Legumes-III (Rs. 225 lakh) are to quote. Dr. Chaturvedi has developed 27 high yielding varieties viz., 20 varieties of chickpea (15 Desi: DCP 92-3, IPC 2006-77, IPC 97-67, IPC 2010-72, IPC 2005-62, IPC 2004-98, IPC 2004-01, IPC 2011-112, IPC 2010-62, IPC 2010-134, IPC 2010-142, IPC 2007-28, IPCMB19-3, IPCL4-14, Sabour Chana 2; 5 Kabuli: Shubhra, Ujjawal, IPCK 11-179, IPCK 12-143, RLBGK 1) and one (Virat) of mungbean; besides guidance for development of 6 varieties of other pulses. Chickpea varieties developed by me were released by other centres for cultivation in Jammu region (IPC 97-67), and Bihar (Sabour Chana 2). And also registered eight varieties of pulses with PPV&FRA besides 12 donors/genetic stocks with NBPGR. Dr. Chaturvedi has more than 310 publications at his credit including 30 research papers in journal of repute like Nature, Frontiers and TAG. He is Member of various important statuary committees and were involved in selection and promotions of faculties and other staff as member or Chairman. He has visited many countries including Australia, Canada, Spain, Syria, Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco and Uganda due to professional reasons. He has received several awards/recognitions including Member, Research Management Committee, CRP-GL, ICRISAT; CGIAR King Boudouin Award 2002 & ICRISAT Dooren Mashler Award 2002, Outstanding Partnership Award 2009–Chickpea Improvement Team of IIPR by ICRISAT and Life Time Achievement Award 2014 & 2018 by Society for Scientific Development in Agriculture & Technology (SSDAT). He is Fellow of ISPRD, ISGPB and Secretary & Treasurer, ISPRD, President, Arid Legumes Society of India. His vision is to develop agriculture and allied sector for the upliftment of economic and social status of people of India, particularly those living in Bundelkhand and adjoining areas. Dr. Chaturvedi is devoted to ensure quality education, research and extension for improving output from agriculture and allied sector.
