College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, located in Datia, Madhya Pradesh, is a constituent unit of Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University (RLBCAU), Jhansi. The foundation stone of the College was laid on September 27, 2020, and the campus spans approximately 200 acres. The college features a fully air-conditioned academic building equipped with smart classrooms, examination and training halls, museums, state-of-the-art research laboratories, an auditorium, a library with e-library access, a computer laboratory, a central instrumentation facility, conference halls, and administrative offices. The Datia campus is equipped with well-furnished separate hostels for boys and girls with round the clock internet facility along with accommodation facilities for farmers and staff quarters, ensuring a safe, comfortable and conducive environment for students, faculty, and visitors. The campus includes an advanced Livestock Farm Complex, designed to house various species of farm animals, and fodder production to facilitate practical demonstrations, trainings and research in animal husbandry and management. A super-specialty Veterinary Clinical Complex, has been meticulously designed withing the campus to offer advanced diagnosis, treatment, and critical care services for both pet and farm animals while also offering hands-on training and practical exposure to students. Additionally, the campus has indoor and outdoor sports facilities as well as medical facility to ensure the physical fitness and overall development of students and staff.
The college offers an undergraduate program that award Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) degree and postgraduate programs that award a Master’s degree (M.V.Sc.) and a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in various disciplines of veterinary sciences. The college also conducts certificate courses, frontline demonstrations, training programs, and health camps to enhance skills and knowledge, raise awareness, promote self-employment, and improve animal health and productivity in the Bundelkhand region, where livestock plays a crucial economic role. In addition to its academic programs, the college places a strong emphasis on research and extension activities. Faculty and students actively participate in research projects that address local challenges in animal health and production. Through its extension services, the college disseminates knowledge and technologies to farmers and livestock owners, with the goal of improving livelihoods. The institution strives to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and extension activities in the field of veterinary and animal sciences.
