Veterinary Microbiology
The Department of Veterinary Microbiology had been established with inception of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Datia. The department is dedicated to advancing knowledge and research in the field of Veterinary Microbiology with a focus on the study of infectious diseases in animals, including the detection, prevention, and control of pathogens that impact both animal and public health. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and highly qualified faculty members, the department offers courses in Veterinary Bacteriology, Veterinary Virology, Veterinary Immunology, Veterinary Mycology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics for the award of UG and PG degrees. The department fosters a multidisciplinary approach, emphasizing both basic and applied aspects of Microbiology, which is essential for combating emerging infectious diseases. The postgraduate programme (M.V.Sc. in Veterinary Microbiology) has started from the academic year 2024-25. The Department of Veterinary Microbiology also provides valuable diagnostic services, supporting veterinary practitioners, farmers, and the community by offering advanced diagnostic tools for detecting microbial infections in animals. Through outreach programs and collaborations, the department plays an active role in educating stakeholders on best practices for disease prevention and control, ensuring the health of animals and the safety of the food supply chain. The department is currently having a research project aiming to assess the prevalence of major diseases affecting small ruminants in the Bundelkhand region. The department is committed to shaping the future of Veterinary Microbiology through excellence in education, research, and services to the community
