Fruit Science
The Department of Fruit Science was established with a visionary mission to propel horticulture forward, with a special emphasis on fruit crops for semi-arid ecosystems. Through intensive research, education, and extension initiatives, the department is dedicated to modernizing fruit cultivation, making it more sustainable and productive. With major focus on fruit breeding, canopy management, standardization of production technology, and postharvest advancements, our research covers the way for innovations that will enhance both yield and quality of different fruit crops significantly. The department is driven by the goal of nurturing skilled professionals who are well-equipped to contribute to the sustainable growth of fruit production in the country. In line with this commitment, the M.Sc. (Horticulture) in Fruit Science degree program was introduced from 2019-20 academic session, followed by the Ph.D. (Horticulture) in Fruit Science degree program from 2022-23 academic session. These programs are designed to develop a new generation of horticulturists, researchers, and industrial leaders, ensuring that the future of fruit science continues to flourish. With a perfect blend of academic excellence, research innovation, and practical outreach, the department of Fruit Science stands as a beacon of knowledge, committed to transforming the conventional fruit production technique of semi-arid regions to modern one.
