Plant Pathology
The Department aims to attain excellence in teaching by offering various courses at under graduate (UG), post graduate (PG) and Ph.D. level. It also undertakes research on relevant and current issues of agriculture related to plant diseases and provides necessary farm advisories on the major plant diseases, their control and other related aspects for the benefit of farming community. Department also runs a ‘Mobile Plant Health Clinic’ to reach to the unreached farmers for crop disease diagnosis and resolving farming issues at their farm. A state of art fully automated ‘Mushroom Unit’ has been established to create awareness and entrepreneurs in mushroom cultivation. Attain excellence in teaching and research in Plant Pathology and develop ecologically sustainable disease management practices for agricultural crops.
- To teach Plant Pathology to under graduate, post graduate and Ph.D. students.
- To undertake need based research and to disseminate research-based recommendations.
- To provide plant disease diagnostic services and necessary management measures to the farmers.
- To conduct training programmes in integrated disease management, mushroom cultivation and production of quality bio-control agents.
- To provide Plant Health Clinic Service to the farmers.
- Survey and surveillance of plant diseases in the area jurisdiction of the university.
- Development of IDM modules for economically important crops
- Biocontrol of plant pathogens.
- Development of novel formulations and smart delivery system for Agri biologicals.
- Development of AI tools and ML models for smart detection of phyo-pathogens.
