The department offers resident instruction program for Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) and Ph. D students in Entomology. The department is imparting quality education in Apiculture, Biological control, Integrated Pest Management, Economic entomology, Host plant resistance, Toxicology, Acarology, etc. Currently department is emphasizing on research in Apiculture, Anthecology, validation and fine tuning of IPM modules, biological control, biorational/ eco-friendly chemicals, etc. Attain excellence in teaching and research in the field of Entomology and to address emerging challenges of crop loss caused by insect pests.
- To offer a prescribed teaching program in the lines of ICAR to graduate, post graduate and Ph.D. students.
- To undertake need based research on basic and applied issues related to crops grown in the region.
- To enhance skill in areas such as integrated pest management, apiculture and production of quality bio-pesticides.
- To provide diagnostic services and necessary management measures of insect pests to the farmers.
- Quality teaching in emerging areas of insect pest identification, ecology, biology and management.
- Generate basic and applied information related to sustainable insect pest management schedules for managing major insect pest of different crops/cropping systems.
- Develop biopesticide and bio-intensive modules for management of insect pests of different agricultural crops.
- Establishment of beekeeping and biological control units for entrepreneurship and experiential learning programs.
