Aquatic Environment Management

The Department of Aquatic Environment Management hosts a dynamic team of faculty members of expertise committed to teaching, research and extension activities focused on the management and conservation of aquatic ecosystems with fisheries and aquaculture potential. As part of its core mandate, the department offers courses, emphasizing environmental management across various aquatic niches of fisheries. The department’s research and outreach efforts are centered on water and soil quality management in aquaculture, conservation of aquatic biodiversity, assessment and remediation of aquatic pollution, ecotoxicology of aquatic organisms, and the evaluation of climate change impacts on fisheries resources. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including laboratories for environmental monitoring, aquatic ecology, climate change studies, and ecotoxicology. The department actively proceeds with the vision to promote climate- resilient aquaculture practices and climate change mitigation in fisheries, particularly tailored to the ecological conditions of the Bundelkhand region. Additionally, it plays a pivotal role in capacity building and entrepreneurial skill development by offering specialized training in water and soil quality management for sustainable fisheries.
