Agricultural Engineering

The Department of Agricultural Engineering bridges engineering principles with agricultural sciences to enhance food production, sustainability, and rural development. It focuses on applying technology to improve farming efficiency, environmental conservation, and post-harvest systems. Department aims at excellence in teaching by offering various courses at under graduate (UG), and post graduate (PG) level. It also undertakes research on relevant and current issues of Soil water conservation techniques with intervention of IoT, provide necessary advisory with intervention of farm mechanization for timeliness operations at farm. To attain excellence in teaching and research, agricultural engineering must foster a dynamic learning environment that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. This involves updating curricula to reflect current technological advancements such as precision agriculture, sustainable resource management, and smart farming systems.

  • To teach aspects related to agricultural engineering to undergraduates and post graduate students.
  • To mechanize the university farm for timely execution of operations with reduction in human drudgery.
  • To disseminate the technology to the farmers for adoption.
  • To undertake the need-based research and implement the recommendations based on it.
  • To work in an area of water conservation, groundwater recharge and judicious use of water resources.
  • To intervene the IoT based drip irrigation system for enhancing the water use efficiency and productivity at our university farm.
  • Work towards precision irrigation and smart irrigation systems in the university
  • Work towards ground water recharge enhancement and water resource management
  • Perform comprehensive hydrological analysis to study rainfall-runoff relationships, streamflow, infiltration, and groundwater recharge potential.
  • Develop decision support systems (DSS) and AI based on climate and hydrological data for forecasting and planning.
  • Conduct land use and land cover (LULC) analysis using remote sensing and GIS to understand current land utilization patterns within the watershed.
