The Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry is a vital branch of Veterinary Science that focuses on understanding the physiological and biochemical processes in animals.  The mandate of the Department encompasses Teaching, Research, and Extension services. The Department aims to provide quality education and strengthen research in Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, focusing on teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students while promoting the advancement of knowledge and research. The Department has four major laboratories viz. Physiology laboratory, Biochemistry laboratory, Analytical equipment laboratory, and, Climatology/Meteorology laboratory to meet the criteria outlined in the Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education 2016 by the Veterinary Council of India, New-Delhi. The department offers three different courses at undergraduate level (Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Biochemistry and Veterinary Clinical Practices) and offers postgraduation courses in Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Biochemistry and Veterinary Biotechnology. Department also offers a certificate course of two-month duration on Basic Laboratory Diagnostics. Additionally, Department is actively involved in research projects to recognize and solve problems of stakeholders of the region. Through the extension services like Frontline demonstrations and short-term trainings, department provides training and enhances skills and awareness of the stakeholders. Furthermore, department provides diagnostic services and support clinical departments. The future vision of the department revolves around academic excellence, cutting-edge research, skill development, enhanced clinical services, and impactful extension programs. The Department aims to bridge the gap between research and clinical applications, ensuring better animal health and productivity.
