Genetics & Plant Breeding
The Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding offers various courses at undergraduate (U.G.), post graduate (P.G.), and Ph.D. levels. The department is well-equipped with state of art laboratories for Plant Genetic Resources, molecular biology, cytogenetics and seed technology, supporting advanced studies and research. Additionally, the department has specialized facilities such as wide hybridization, speed breeding, and a medium-term germplasm storage module. Research activities focus on important crops for the Bundelkhand region, including pulses, oilseeds, millets, maize, rice, wheat, and barley. Department also has advanced research farm facilities for conducting field experiments and to felicitate practical teaching. To further strengthen research and innovation, the department is having active collaborations with several national and international institutes, fostering interdisciplinary research and technological advancements in crop breeding and genetics. Creating an enriched open source of sustainable trained human resource in the field of genetics & Plant Breeding who are ready to take up the responsibilities of accelerating all round growth of the agriculture sector in the country.
